Details:
We've had a marvelous couple of nights in Alberta with Comet NEOWISE in the sky with auroras and noctilucent clouds.
These are images from two scenic locations, Waterton Lakes National Park (July 13-14) and Dinosaur Provincial Park (July 14-15). The comet's ion tail is easily 15° to 20° long in images, while the dust tail, even visually in binoculars, is certainly 12° long.
And it looks like a clone of Comet Hale-Bopp.
In all, this is a superb comet that we've been fortunate to have well-placed in our sky from Canada, with it visible all night, a pleasant change of affairs from most celestial events when our northern latitude usually puts us at a disadvantage. But we aren't so far north the sky is too bright.
