Details:
After a couple days of clouds hiding it in the predawn, Comet NEOWISE appeared in my Wyoming evening sky on July 14. I chose the landscaped grounds of the county government office building and public library in the middle of Cody Wyoming, on 23 acres of trees, ponds , hilly turf and very little light pollution plus long sight lines in all directions. I shot for two hours, from 10pm local till after midnight. For a while the Comet was directly above the form of our iconic geologic landmark Heart Mountain some 20km distant. Viewing conditions were perfect- calm and clear and no insects. All in all a splendid starscape ! Nikon D5300 dslr with Nikkor 70~210mm ED lens on full manual. Exposure was 6 secs. at f/2.8 using ISO 3200 at a focal length equivalence of 157mm ( 3 X normal lens ). Image was post processed in Affinity Photo for very slight color correction , and Nik Dfine for denoising.
