Details:
A storm system near Big Spring, TX generated multiple large sprites visible from McDonald Observatory, TX. In this event, a greenish fringe is visible at the cloud top. This is an example of the newly discovered "ghost", an emission that sometimes follows the spite event and glows green. It is hypothesized that the green is from oxygen, similar to aurorae but triggered by the sprites instead of solar energy.
