Noctilucent clouds have come to North America!
We had a good display June 1-2, as seen from my location in southern Alberta at latitude 51° N. This was my first sighting of NLCs for the season and the earliest I can recall seeing them in any year. They are generally more prevalent closer to and after solstice. They were visible at dusk at about 11:30 pm MDT then faded as the Sun dropped too low to illuminate them.
But the NLCs reappeared as the Sun angle became favourable again as dawn brightened the sky at about 3:15 am. At dawn they appeared even brighter and with more structure than they had earlier at dusk on this short night.
These are panoramas shot with an 85mm lens and Canon 6D MkII for sets of 3.2-second exposures at f/2.8 and ISO 400.
