Details:
Comet C/2020 SWAN wasn't quite visible to my eyes, but my digital mirrorless camera could certainly see it. I was able to center the camera LCD on the comet and it glowed an eerie green color when viewed (see images). I took these images from my street in the Suburbs of Western Sydney with a Canon EOS M6 mirrorless (APS-C) camera using a Canon EF-M 32mm f/1.4 STM lens for the wide shot - and an EF 135mm f/2L USM lens for the longer shot (via an EF-to-EFM lens adapter). The closer shot of the comet was made from a stack of 54 exposures to try to enhance detail. Comet C/2020's tail is fairly faint, almost invisible in the unstacked images... and I was unable to extract any of the wispy details visible in shots by others. The exposures were restricted to 2.5 seconds each with the 135mm lens to avoid star trails. I might have another chance at this if the sky is clear again this morning. It's not an easy subject with the looming sunrise just minutes away - and now a moon lingering in the sky. Like Comet 46P/ Wirtanen (visible back in December 2018), Comet C/2020 SWAN is quite a bold, mint-green color in the sky compared to the stars.
