Details:
Comet C/2019 Y4 ATLAS has significantly changed in appearance since its peak brightness at the end of March. The spherical coma has dimmed noticeably and the central region has become quite elongated due to the fragmentation of the nucleus. I clearly caught the two largest fragments, A and B, with lesser fragments C and D possibly seen trailing just behind them. There are also a few irregularly-shaped areas of brightness further back in the tail which may be clouds of debris resulting from the fragmentation. The image was taken with an 11-inch F10 Celestron EdgeHD and QHY9M CCD imager. It is an LRGB composite with a total exposure time of 33 minutes. The stars and comet were processed separately and then merged.
