Details:
30 years ago today the Hubble Space Telescope was launched. The iconic Hubble image is of course the "Pillars of Creation" - in the Eagle Nebula in Serpens. Unfortunately it is always very low in the sky from here in the UK. Anyway, It reminded me that 3 years ago or so, I managed to find it. I was really delighted in even finding this object! I managed to get an image of it at the time. In the intervening 3 years, I have learned a bit more about image processing (using GIMP), so I had a go at reprocessing it. Then I rotated it,and cropped it to match the Hubble image. Then as an amusement I colourised it to approximate the Hubble palette. Quite amused and pleased with the result - accepting that a 100UKpound PD camera can't really compete with Hubble!'
