Details:
Photographing Proxima Centauri from suburban Brisbane, Australia, at the same time as the New Horizons space probe, 11pm local time (13:00 GMT) 22nd April 2020.
At top left is a chart of the probe's expected camera view, at top right is the telescopic image I captured at 13:00 GMT. Cross reference with the chart to find Proxima Centauri - the closest star to our Solar System.
The bottom image is the camera setup (Canon EOS 70D attached to a Sky-Watcher 12" Dobsonian telescope) pointed at Proxima Centauri, with the out-of-focus Southern Cross and Pointers showing off their true colours.
