Details:
The CME impact that sparked beautiful aurora reported on Spaceweather.com also had a dramatic effect on magnetometers around the world including my own here in the UK. Buried in my back yard the sensor burst into life on April 20th as solar particles carrying southerly oriented magnetic field slammed into Earth's protective bubble creating a G1 geomagnetic storm and the telltale manifestation of visible aurora.
