Four Planets at Twilight
In this wide-angle image are four planets and an asteroid.
Mercury (-0.1), Neptune (+7.9), Venus (-4.1), Uranus (+5.8), and Vesta (+7.4) are all captured in this single image along with the Zodiacal Light.
While Mercury and Venus are clearly visible in this downsized JPEG image, Neptune, Uranus, and Vesta are barely visible. In the original NEF image, all can be clearly seen.
Mercury and Neptune are rapidly falling into the glare of twilight and will soon become very difficult to see.
On February 27, Venus and Uranus will be separated by 10° and joined by the crescent Moon to form a triangle in the evening sky.
On March 7, Venus and Uranus will be separated by just a little over 2° although the Moon will be nearly full.
