Surface halos are formed by hexagonal ice crystals like those in cirrus clouds and diamond dust, but in this case they are fixed on the surface and not moving freely. Maybe this is what allows new halo forms never observed on airborne crystals, and some of these were discovered only a few years ago. This motivated me to make my observation, and finally the chance came. I went out to find some frozen puddles, and in addition to classic observation, I also took pieces of ice from there and experimented by holding them in different directions and angles in relation to Sun. I got various arcs and patches caused by reflection and refraction, some being familiar but others new to me, like the ,,six-parhelia'' when I held the ice in front of the Sun.
