Details:
Last night as usually, becoming a reflex, I checked the spacewheatherlive website to check how the solar wind parameters are and I noticed that despite the Kp being at the lowest levels 0-1, the density of the solar wind jumped up and also the Interplanetary Magnetic Field was fluctuating around -5 to -2. Interesting variations despite the low solar wind speed. Right away I checked the AuroraMax camera and the AURORACAMHD Athabasca live camera and saw some green movement around, and that was the moment when I told myself: get out.. Picked my stuff and went out the door in a record time and by the time I got on location the show was almost over with some clouds taking over the low green band at the northern horizon….Without much activity lately I was quite happy with the little green I got, with the Milky Way as a bonus and not at last the clouds which gave a special effect. Hopefully a real show will come soon…. (Worsley, Alberta, Canada – Jan 24, 2020, D800, Nikkor 14-24mm 2.8, ISO 4000 & 6400; 13 & 15 seconds exposure; f 2.8, 14mm).
