There was a penumbral lunar eclipse tonight. Despite all the hype created around it in the media, there was nothing to write home about. Of course, it’s always nice to have people take a look at the night sky. For those of you struggling to see it and being underwhelmed, don’t panic. Penumbral eclipses are extremely subtle to the untrained eye. If you’re not used to looking at the Moon, it looks pretty regular. Cameras better reveal the darkening as you can see in my photo. I also increased the saturation to better see the subtle colours of our natural satellite. Photo taken with my beloved Pentax 75 SDHF refractor on a Fornax Mounts head and processed in PixInsight.
