Moonlight and Halo versus Geminids
A wonderful past last night at the Radebeul Observatory in Saxony/Germany (A72). We celebrated our Christmas party with many members of the Astroclub Radebeul e.V. After the dinner, the sky cleared almost completely. Mario Ludwig, Thomas Böhme and I went outside and were totally surprised at how many bright Geminids we could see despite the moonlight. Even right next to the bright moon! The sky was extremely clear thanks to very cold air on the backside of a low pressure system. Thanks to an another colleague from the club, I was able to test a new wide-angle lens, the IRIX 2.8/15 (full format), with which these pictures were taken! The special thing at the end was a magnificent 22 ° ring around the moon over the dome of the 150/2250 Coudé refractor! Thanks at all for a great evening with our party and a very clear sky!
