What a dream tonight! Was having a night off and me and my friend Chris T Hodgson (co worker for Lights Over Lapland) were watching the TV when I saw one of the key aurora stats change (ie Bz flipped from +3 North to -3 South). Jumped into outdoor clothes and headed to a spot where I know there's loads of iced trees. Got there and a lot of the smaller ice formations have melted as it's got a bit warm but the bigger ice was still intact. The place was lethal walking (well more crawling) on uneven wet ice, above a big drop into the lake. Waves crashing below! We had light aurora for about 45 mins and was just starting to pack and out came the bigger stuff! What a magic night :) I have wanted to get aurora reflecting in ice on trees for years.
