Details:
After a cold front we had a crystal clear sky, only some low level clouds drifted by. After moonset I went to the nearby hills where light pollution is less disturbing because it was one of the very few nights of the year when gegenschein would be visible here. I noticed gegenschein almost immediately, then soon as my eyes got some better dark adaptation the bands of the red airglow also appeared. They looked colourless, of course, but the faint bands were easy to tell from the drifting clouds as the bands didn't move noticeably. I wanted to wait until the zodiacal light would also appear but the thicker cloudcover of the next front arrived and after that I had no chance.
