Another double rainbow over Östersund
This afternoon another beautiful double rainbow showed up over Östersund.
Today I also took some photos of the entire rainbow, but since this bow wasn't as high as the last one (due to the Suns higher position in the sky), I focused on the area between the rainbow arcs.
The area between the primary and the secondary rainbow is always darker since less light falls there. This band is called Alexander's dark band after Alexander of Aphrodisias who first described the effect in 200 AD.
Another interesting detail with a double rainbow is that the colors of the secondary bow is mirrored compared to the primary bow.
