Details:
An active and vivid aurora show here in South Central Finland! As soon as it was dark enough, I could see fast moving auroral ripples above the main band of activity which was obscured by cloud at the time. These 'flashes' were intermittent for the next few hours, but during the most intense phase of the aurora storm at 3:00 AM local time, there were rapid pulsations of auroral energy every 5 seconds or so, moving above the main area of activity seen on the photos. It was amazing to see such an active display, relatively far south in Finland where aurora like these aren't that common. Aurora was visible effectively the whole night (that it was dark enough). Photos taken with Nikon D750, 20 mm 1.8 lens, mostly 10 second exposures.
