Details:
Romania is among the worst places to see the NLCs, but you can get other spectacular phenomena with luck. I saw this fogbow last night after unsuccessful NLC chasing, and I was amazed because this was the first time for me to see one. It looked like a ghost gate into the dark! Since the light source was a street lamp, I experimented a bit with the distances: I walked approx. 20 m from the lamp and took a pano pic, then I moved gradually closer in 5 m steps until I was next to it, taking 1-1 pano pic with each step. The second image shows the result: at greater distances the bow is narrower and somewhat higher, and as you move closer to the lamp, it gets wider and more diffuse until only a small white patch remains.
