I spotted these Red Sprites while viewing a timelapse that was recently posted by Nasa on June 10, 2019. The caption mentions Lightning in the clouds but they didn't mention the red sprites so I guess they didn't see them. I have to admit that they are not easy to spot in a timelapse video. The sprites were captured by an Astronaut on board the International Space Station on May 10, 2019. The space station was over California and traveling northeast so I'm guessing the storms were over the Midwest United States. Would be great if the ASIM module on board the ISS also captured these sprites. The ASIM module was installed about a year ago and it is designed to monitor these types of events and gather data from them. Paul Smith has shown me a satellite photo showing storms to the northeast of Los Angeles and one near Las Vegas at the time of the ISS flyby. New Mexico also had storm activity so hard to tell which one was the source.
