I have been trying to make a Gif movie for days now of the rotation of the Great Red Spot with this set of images taken over the course of one and a half hours, but so far I’ve had no luck…so here is a nice montage instead until I work it out! I’ve also included a second image with just two photos from the set, because if you look at the picture and cross your eyes a 3D picture of Jupiter will pop out! It was only after I submitted this montage to our astronomy clubs latest E-newsletter that one of the members (Howard Smith) pointed this out and made a YouTube video to show how its done. Please find a link if you are interested in making one too at: How to create 3d Jupiter image https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WIyDbKQ5Jek&feature=youtu.be Regular Spaceweather.com contributor Sylvain Weiller also noted on one of my other Jupiter images submitted on the 9th June, that this was also possible to see with this cross-eyed method. This is such an awesome new way of seeing Jupiter with just two still images; I hope you have some fun trying it out :-) All images were taken with a Meade LX200 10inch telescope at prime focus using a ZWO ASI120MC-S camera and 3x Barlow lens attached. AVI movie files of 2000 frames were captured which were then stacked in RegiStax6 and processed in PS CS4.

Hi Noleen, great set of images, definately worth trying with the GIF.
I make an avi file in PIPP and then convert to GIF using VirtualDub. The filesize is still pretty large and may exceed the upload limit for this site but you can email it to them. Its possible to lower the resolution but with such a good image Id stick with the original, all the best from rainy Britain

Great 3D !

About GIF size, the best thing is to crop very close to the planet ... I dont know the limit here but it should not be < 5 MB.

https://www.avs4you.com/AVS-Video-Editor.aspx, it cost money, but well worth it! you can use it to convert to uncompressed avis for registax, and make gifs, i just read there is a 70% off offer here, https://www.avs4you.com/register.aspx,

If your PS CS4 is Adobe, it may have Image Ready within it. You can check by clicking File at the top and see if Edit In Image Ready is in the drop down list. You need to have the sequence of images as layers on top of each other in the Adobe PS program (by copying and pasting the images in sequence upon the first image). Once you have done this, then you open Image Ready. Once the Image Ready window is opened you choose to Make frames from layers. From there you can do things like choose how long you can display each image in the animation, make it loop, etc.

If Adobe PS CS4 doesnt have Image Ready. Check out this link:

Havent used CS4 version, but you should be able to create an animation with it. I dont think you need to create the initial blank white image window as shown in the first YouTube video. I would open the image you want to use as the first in the sequence. Then Select All, Copy and Paste each of the other images in the sequence on top of the first one. Click on Window at the top menu then select the Animation panel.
