Details:
Proof that Orion is a Zodiac constellation (at least occasionally), with the Moon next to Orion's club.

The Moon's orbit is inclined 5 degrees to the ecliptic, but it wobbles up and down by that amount over a saros period of 18 years. A couple years ago the Moon could be seen south of the top stars of Orion's club, but since then it's been moving northward and is now slightly north of them but still inside the constellation boundaries, as the map shows.

Photo data. Panasonic FZ300 superzoom camera at 2x zoom (~50mm EFL). Star field: f/2.8, 10 sec, ISO 320; Moon: f/2.8, 1/1000 sec, ISO 1600; taken in town looking over the neighbor's roof.

Composited and processed in Paint Shop Pro X2. Map is from the Sky Safari 6 app.
