Details:
Auroras were dancing over Tromsø basically almost after the sun set tonight. And some strong ones as well. In theory it is strange that you see this strong and vivid auroras when magnetograms are as silent as they are. But solar wind was high, and IMF was favorably south all night. I've seen this before, we can have strong auroras in Tromsø when conditions are like this. This is the good thing about being located just below the auroral oval even during low activity. April is here and only a few hours with darkness now. This week may be the last with possible visible auroras. Early in the evening we had one strong display. The second one was almost just as strong. And I took the chance to stand on a rock and do a selfie, in case this was the last of the season.
