Details:
This image of Comet Iwamoto was taken between 9:15PM and 9:27PM (MST). Comet is fixed against moving stars. Nikon d7100, Nikkor 180mm ED f/2.8 @ f/2.8, 25x30s, ISO 3200 & 4500, Orion Sirius EQ Mount. Temperature 17F, RH 65%, winds 10 mph. Skies clear but ended photo session when clouds moved in.
Comet passed close to M95, M96, and M105 but short exposures and limited integrated time resulted in too much noise to blend fixed stars and fixed comet. Comet tail was not recorded but might of if exposures exceeded 120 seconds. However, comets motion (blurring) was noted with exposures exceeding 45 seconds. Now that's a fast moving comet.
