Since I designed the 20X STEM spyglasses for Ciencia Puerto Rico, I have been waiting for a decent spot to prove these $20 scopes can be used for solar work in the classroom. Finally got a good look at AR 2733 just before it rotated off the disk today. Impressed by its sharpness with 1" Draco Baader filter. The first image shows the sunspot near the right (western) limb with the STEM spylass. Here a PSC student and I are imaging at the college, using the SolarScope as well. Both revealed the spot nicely. Here is the Puerto Rico scope, as used to take the first shot, with star diagonal, iOptron smartphone adapter. Used my iPhone 5c for all these shots. Here was the close up of the spot region, with Coronado 60. Think this is the best solar detail I have gotten yet with my smartphone. 4x zoom in standard camera mode, 3 second delay.
