Details:
Rained all day. Luckily the clouds parted for some minutes so that I could hurriedly set up and catch a few shots before the clouds came back in. Very turbulent atmosphere. Shot with 8" f/7 reflector telescope and Nikon D5100.

Ed,
Very nice image. One of the nicest so far. You apparently had good seeing conditions, from the fine sharp details that show well in this image.
I usually photograph through a Celestron NexStar 5i, with a Sony mirrorless NEX 5R digital camera. I drove about 25 miles east of Portland Oregon, my hometown into the Columbia River Gorge where it is usually clear. The eclipse started out in clear Skies but after the first half hour and Earths shadow, was only halfway across the lunar disc, clouds took over and completely obscurred the remainder. This was the first lunar Eclipse that I missed the totality, as the last four in 2014 and 2015 I captured all quite well through broken clouds. I also captured the Solar Total Eclipse well in my home state of Oregon on August 2017, through my Celestron NexStar 5i.

Thanks for posting your excellent images, as I look forward to seeing more as you process them.

Thanks Mark,

Sorry to hear of your bad luck.

I already have a place in the yard marked for the pole to place the telescope. I had to hurry and set it up in the mud and grass. Then get up and stay on a ladder to focus and take exposures before the next wave of clouds came in.

I wish I had traveled up north to Madras to witness the solar eclipse there. Never seen totality. There will be one near my area in the 2040s, hopefully I can manage to witness that.

Best to you,
Ed
