Details:
Capturing the magic of Aurora Borealis can be challenging when standing on solid ground. Capturing Mrs. Aurora from a Boeing 737 speeding in 800 km/hr is more or less impossible - at least if you want crystal sharp images with no noise.
After purchasing the Sigma Art 14 mm/1,8 lens, i thought i should give it a try anyway. A few days ago, i flew over Northern Norway and had a nice Aurora display outside my window. Using my jacket to cover the window i could avoid reflections from the cabin light. I'm sure the stewardess was wondering what the hell the passenger hiding under the jacket was doing. 😄
It was a down jacket, and it was super hot hiding under it. And the window was cold, so to prevent dew on the window, i had to hold my breathe while taking the pictures. I was sweating like a pig in Sahara! Photographing the Aurora from a plane can for sure be hard work!
The images are captured while flying over Northern Norway.
