This is my first REAL attempt at capturing M42/NGC1977. I used Nikon D7000 on regular tripod 80 Lights 60 Darks 40 Flats 30mm Processed is DSS and Photoshop. This is my first attempt with post processing.

Also...this is my first planned/executed attempt at DSO photography. I do have a small background in planet capturing.I am very much a novice to all of this.

M42 is always a good object to start with as its easy to get some good results. Star clusters are fun also. You use a telephoto lens or a telescope for the picture?
Be careful and dont overdo the picture processing.

300mm lens. I am officially hooked on DSO astrophotography. I will be learning and executing better captures in the future.
