Object/Date: 46P/Wirtanen @ December 10,2018 06:16 UT Description: Comet 46P/Wirtanen shows in this wide field image taken on December 10th 2018 a huge coma with 1.5 degrees of angular size, three times the size of Moon seen from Earth. With a global integrated brightness at least in magnitude 4, as reference the brightest star to right is 94 Ceti with magnitude 5. The inner coma contrasts exhibing a whitish color, also the faint tail toward northeast (to down-left). The field appears scattered with tiny galaxies, some visible through comet atmosphere. Acquisition details: Telescope Takahashi FSQ-106ED f/5.0. Camera SBIG STL-11000M. 15 min. total exposure. Remotely from Mayhill, New Mexico (USA). Credits: José J.
