Comet 46P Wirtanen is seen here a few degrees east of the Pleiades star cluster in Taurus. It is now closest to the Earth, at 30 lunar distances, and sports a coma about 1.2 degrees wide. In linear terms this equates to 270,000kms. For comparison, the Earth-Moon distance is 390,000 kms. Photo details: 2018 Dec 16 at 12:20UT. Canon 60Da + Sigma 200mm lens. 4 min. FOV 7x5 deg.
