Knowing that the solar wind had arrived the previous day I couldn’t wait to go out on tour this night , even though I had a full group of viewing guests that demanded all my time all night . But in between the panic that went on , with everyone shouting marianne ,marianne ,can you take my picture please, can I have help please etc etc , I managed to grab these images from some of the display that was left danced high above me. The arctic wind blew very strong and very cold, even thought it was only -1 or -2 the wind chill made it feel like -10 to - 12. Half way through the night one guest lost his camera to the strong arctic wind that blew his camera and tripod to the ground, resulting a broken camera . But he was very happy, as he had already captured many images that he thought where impossible otherwise , he was so pleased that he said , you know with the camera you forget how beautiful the aurora can be and I am very very happy just to watch the aurora with the naked eye. The aurora danced all night long from 1900 to well after midnight on the 8th. Like my guest all my best images are in my head not my camera. With the solar wind still buffering earth ,I can’t wait for an other night of colourful dancing aurora’s.
