Question: Has anyone ever seen the type of light path shown in my photos when taking star photos? Nikon D3300, ISO-1600, 62mm, 3 sec exposure, F-4.5 Photo was enhanced for clarity with Photoshop. Two photos: original and cropped close-up

Looks like a tumbling satellite or space junk.

It is from mirror slap in the camera causing it to vibrate. Notice that the wave damps out in time from left to right. The camera motion is up-and-down and the stars are non-circular with their major axis in the up-down direction.

Other photos same time frame did not have the object. Just two frames did and they show an object that was moving East To West.

It looks like the cameras motion compensation trying to stabilize a moving object. if your camera is on a tripod you should probably turn off motion compensation.
