I have enjoyed imaging Comet 21P/G-Z as it has visited M35, IC 443, and the Cone and Rosette Nebulae on its path down the spine of the Milky Way over the last few weeks presenting such cool photo-ops! Soon-to-be Hurricane Michael will prevent me from capturing the rendezvous of 21P with the Seagull Nebula IC 2177 in a few days but it didn't stop me from capturing the tail of 21P passing over comet-like emission nebula NGC 2316 in Monoceros with nearby open cluster M50 this morning. My quickie 8 minute LRGB time exposure taken with 100mm f/3.8 Vixen refractor and SBIG 11K CCD camera is over-processed, I know, but isn't it fun to really stretch the data and see all the background nebulosity as a bonus! I had to hurry as the comet was moving fast and the Moon would soon rise and wash out my varied deep-sky background. Wonder which comet will present my next challenge -- assuming my observatory survives the upcoming storm.
