Details:
When I went out to my car this morning there was a half inch diameter hole in the windshield and a chip of glass was lying on the hood. It was evident that a small high speed object had hit the windshield from the upper rear. I live in a rural area in the Sacremento mountains of south central New Mexico about a quarter mile from the nearest road so the only possible explanation is that a small meteorite or piece of space junk struck the windshield during the night. I am a professional engineer with specific training in event analysis.

that would be from a long distant pistol or a stray rifle round. you should search for the rock or clear sign of ammunition. you might want to report that to the police. It could be something way more serious than you are wanting to believe. The FBI is finding lots of bad people in new mexico right now and it could be a test fire to do something more sinister.
