Details:
Although the Sun is currently devoid of sunspots, the northwest quadrant of the Sun had a fine display of multiple prominences yesterday (July 30th). One (lower right) looked like a rope-like towering flame, while another (top left) looked like a hedgerow that had its top trimmed off flat.
Images were captured with an 80mm ED refractor equipped with a 50mm Solarscope Halpha single Etalon filter. Images were acquired with an Imaging Source DMK 31AU03.AS monochrome Astronomy camera. Stack of best 50 frames of both surface and prominences using AutoStakkert. Surface and prominence images were merged in Photoshop CS with color added in post processing.
