Details:
During the pre-twilight hours of July 4th, a band of cirrus clouds passed over lava flowing from fissure 8. The cirrus clouds made it possible to photograph the intense lava glow from some 200 miles away, on the SE coastline of Oahu. Despite the moon being 64% illuminated, it was not enough to outshine the energy pouring from fissure 8. These cirrus clouds allowed an over horizon view of the intensity of this eruption
