Details:
We noticed these Fata Morgana mirages on a warm day (65F/18C) over a cool ocean (50F/10C). These rocks are between 8 and 9 miles away. The white smudge is a wave breaking on the rock below the visible horizon. Also included pics of the offshore rocks the way they normally look from the same location and also from Patrick's Point on a different day to show the "hovering" smaller rock. Nikon D90, f5.6, 1/2500, ISO-200
