Details:
While folks in the USA are getting ready to celebrate the 4th of July with fireworks and BarBQs, our Sun is displaying some fireworks of its own in the form of a nice prominence on the NW quadrant of the Sun. This image was captured today at 12:42 MST with an 80mm ED Refractor equipped with a 50mm Solarscope single Etalon HAlpha filter and an Imaging Source DMK 31AU03.AS Monochrome Astronomy camera. The image is a stack of 50 frames from AVI video processed in AutoStakkert, Registax 6 and Photoshop CS. Color was added in Photoshop.
