Details:
Very clear skies over Muture allowed the waning Moon and Mars conjunction to be observed rising on the evening of 30 June and setting in the early morning of 01 July. The first two pictures show the pair appearing behind some plants in the corner of my garden at 9.30 pm and then descending (with Jupiter in the distance) over Chikanga Township at dawn. The mosaic consists of complimentary views of them rising (top) at 9.44 pm and setting (bottom) at 6.16 am. The animation, consisting of 184 frames extracted from a video recorded at maximum zoom + digital magnification of x120, shows Mars, currently very bright orange, rising at 10.13 pm. Camera: Tripod mounted Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ60 in sunset and night scene modes.
