The waxing crescent moon and -3.95 magnitude planet Venus were in conjunction in the western sky from Marion, Iowa at 8:48 pm CDT on Thursday, May 17, 2018. Sunset was at 8:22 pm. This image is a 1/10-second exposure at f/8, 400 ISO and 31mm focal length. Nikon D7200 DSLR camera. Second image is a 300mm capture of the conjunction through the clouds.
