Details:
Astonishing display of Southern Lights during solar minimum, from my verandah overlooking Pitt Water, near Hobart, Tasmania. When my usual, beautiful, southern horizon hugging aurora green band suddenly developed a vivid green blob, much higher in the east, which then loomed overhead, spreading westward to the mountain, I realised then that besides needing a wider lens, this was going to be a very special night, ending with a rare picket fence aurora! Nikon D750, Samyang 24mm/1.4; ISO 3200, 4-5s
