Details:
The Statue of Liberty (Hungarian: Szabadság-szobor) is a monument on Gellért Hill in Budapest, Hungary. It commemorates those who sacrified their lives for the independence, freedom and prosperity of Hungary. It was erected in 1947 in remembrance of what was then referred to as the Soviet liberation of Hungary during World War II, which ended the occupation by Nazi Germany. Its location upon Gellért Hill makes it a prominent feature of the cityscape of Budapest. On Wednesday evening I planned to capture a wide-angle panorama of the setting duo of the Moon and Venus including Gellért Hill and river Danube with her bridges in the foreground. My location was not ideal and the scene might have been much better but I realized walking away some hundred meters the Moon would descend directly behind the Statue.
