Details:
I was aware of the pairing and hoped the skies would cooperate for a look and chance to image this celestial event. As I made my way to a favorite roadside windmill here in eastern Iowa, I was not disappointed. After the Sun disappeared below the horizon, the slender crescent Moon and dazzling Venus set the scene with the silhouetted windmill nicely framed against a pastel sky. In addition to Venus and the Moon pairing up, the Pleiades star cluster (a.k.a. the Seven Sisters) wanted some fan-fair too and made this evening’s treat a trio event. The cluster can be seen just to the right of the windmill blades.
