Details:
I am currently traveling through the Lofoten Islands whilst working on my latest Kickstarter project: http://kck.st/2GlBGGP I really wanted an aurora over the village of Reine, a cliche yet iconic Lofoten landscape. The readings looked good and I got into position around 10pm, when it was only just dark. Ninety minutes later after a really weak arc I gave up, my feet were blocks of ice and I wanted to get up for sunrise at 5am.
Staying in my campervan at the roadside, I'd just started brushing my teeth (after removing all the cold weather gear) when I thought I should just check the sky one last time. Opening a blind I was greeted with a sky full of green.
A very quick wardrobe change and I was back out photographing a nice display, even above the light pollution of the village.
