Details:
High, thin clouds moved across the sky during the early phases of the eclipse while mostly clear skies prevailed during and after totality. Twilight in the eastern sky diminished the number of stars that were visible during the latter stages of totality. The moon set behind distant mountains shortly after U3. Image #1 was taken moments before moonset at 1421 UTC (0721 MST) -- approximately 12 minutes after U3. Nikon D750, Nikkor 80-200mm@200, f/8, 1/4 sec, ISO 100. Image #2 taken earlier at 1332 UTC (0632 MST) during maximum totality. Nikon D750, Nikkor 80-200mm@200, f/8, 8 sec, ISO 800. The camera was mounted on an iOptron SkyTracker which tracked the stars. A short video shows the motion of the moon (i.e., up and left) relative to the background of stars -- and also shows rapidly brightening skies during morning twilight. Exposure was increased during totality. http://www.dblanchard.net/Movies/2018_LunarEclipse.mov
