Details:
On the night of 13/14 January, clear sky was forecast for most of Otago, so I set off for a night's stargazing. Having set up my telescope and started observing eta carina, I gazed to the south and saw a delightful and subtle pastel coloured aurora painting the southern sky above Moturata Island. Of course I had to photograph it!
