Details:
C/2017 O1 (ASASSN) on Oct 18, 2017, taken during the Eldorado Star Party, Eldorado, TX, centered on 4:20am CDT (9:30 UT). Comet was very tenuous but visible with averted vision using 15x50IS binoculars under dark skies. Stats: Panasonic FZ300 superzoom camera, 10 x (f/2.8, 60 sec, ISO 1600) @ 20x zoom (= 500mm EFL, 90mm FL), mounted on SkyTracker Pro. Postprocessed by D. Ault.
There are a number of dark nebulae in this seemingly blank area of Camelopardalis; Barnard 21 is the small circular one halfway to the right edge from the comet. The sparse but pretty open cluster Alessi 2 is just above the comet. 2 and 3 Cam are the bright pair of stars at the bottom, and 7 Cam is the bright one on the left edge. N is tilted approx. 20* to the right of vertical.
