A day of two great weather phenomena.
The weather here in Abisko just got cold and whilst out hiking today I found ice spikes. A curious thing as literally spikes grow out of the ice. Below is a macro photograph which shows the detail of this small ice spike which has grown up out of an area of frozen water.
Then in the evening whilst guiding for Lights Over Lapland we had another fantastic aurora display which reflected really brightly in both the lake Torneträsk and also some shallow pools which had frozen.
The geomagnetic activity wasn't very high but we had a number of very bright dancing auroras tonight!
I know the challenge now is to photograph the ice spikes with aurora...
