This cropped vertical variant of a previous landscape image shows the Milky Way seemingly beaming skyward from an illuminated area of Door Trail in the Badlands, South Dakota at 4:12 am MDT on September 18. In reality, the foreground was light-painted with a flashlight by my wife. Image is a 20-second exposure at f/2.8, 5000 ISO and 11mm focal length. Nikon D7200 DSLR camera with Shoot remote switch, Tokina AT-X Pro DX II lens, and Vanguard Alta Pro 263AT tripod with SBH-100 ballhead.
