We headed out to North Senja on October 12th. Dawn takes pretty long in Scandinavia, so it also took quite long to see stars and the Aurora. As the night felt, a strong visible bow on the west side of the sky appears. The Aurora fights against the Night, as soon as it got darker, it got brighter again at the same time. The best thing was, the sunset was visiible for a long time together with the northern Lights. It also tinted the Aurora in the most visit colors i’ve ever seen.
„Vi har Nordlys“ - that’s how everything started. My friend Hugo Løhre who’s a local here in Senja and also my friend and guide was impressed by the Northern Lights Activity as well. „Such nights we only have around five times a year“ he quoted.
At one point, the whole sky was just exploding, and it has been a very colorful night for hours and hours ongoing. I was so fascinated like a small kid, that i’ve overseen one of those small ponds and felt into the water. Nevermind, my camera survived - and clothes can dry. It has been just a little bit cooler after this.
